Players to Watch: Week 7

Week seven provides a pivotal matchup between the Washington Admirals and the Boston Forge at 5 PM ET. Both teams might have punched their tickets to Buffalo, but seeding is on the line this weekend. Either team could finish second and avoid the play-in bracket. Here are a couple players to look out for in one of the most important matchups of the season.

Washington Admirals: Caitlyn Breslow (#19)

Someone we haven’t seen since the first week of the season, Caitlyn Breslow’s return for the Washington Admirals could not have come at a better time. Breslow, in her debut, was one of two players that put up 40 points against the New York Titans, outscoring the veteran Admiral chasers on opening weekend. Being one of two players to lead the team in scoring is no easy feat, especially as a rookie against one of the strongest defenses in the league. While she didn’t play against the Ottawa Black Bears or the Charlotte Aviators, Breslow is looking to build off her MLQ opener and lead the Washington chasers once again in a series that will impact seeding in Buffalo.

Boston Forge: Athena Mayor (#22)

Athena Mayor has transformed the Boston offense this season, as she has become the go-to facilitator for this franchise. In 2023 she finished with 140 points, three assists, and two stops. Just two years later, Mayor has flipped the script. So far this season, she has 30 points, 12 assists, and nine stops. Mayor has turned into a player that the Forge depend on to make the team click, and when she can distribute the offense catches fire. On top of leading the team in assists, she is second in stops among the Boston chasers. It’s become clear over the course of the season that Mayor is leading this team on both sides of the field. Look for her to continue to ignite the Forge offensively and defensively this weekend.
