At MLQ we aim to present quadball in an elegant, highly-consumable form that mirrors other top sports leagues. MLQ features standardized schedules, high-level officiating, in-depth statistics, and live or pre-recorded footage of all games. However, we cannot do it alone.

Executive

  • The MLQ Executive Assistant will be a vital member of the MLQ Executive Department. A predominantly administrative position, the MLQ Executive Assistant will support and report directly to MLQ Commissioners Amanda Dallas and Ethan Sturm. The MLQ Executive Assistant will also have an opportunity to work on projects in other MLQ departments in which they may be interested.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Administrative tasks: this may include but is not limited to inbox management, calendar management, standard business correspondence, and data entry

    • Monitor, forward, and respond to MLQ Info emails daily

    • Serve as secretary at MLQ Director meetings

    • Research: This may include research on events, projects, pricing, etc. Results must be provided within an established time frame.

Franchise Staff

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build and strengthen team relationships.

    • Assist team manager with recruitment and tryout and practice scheduling.

    • Create the initial 30-person roster and all game rosters with input from coaching staff as desired.

    • Franchise head coaches and practice squad head coaches will collaborate on the creation of the practice squad rosters.

    • Franchise managers do not have say in roster decisions at any point unless explicitly requested by the franchise head coach.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build and strengthen team relationships.

    • Assist the franchise head coach and manager with recruitment and tryout and practice scheduling.

    • Work with the franchise head coach to create a 18-person practice squad roster.

    • Oversee and facilitate all practice squad practices.

      • These will take place at the same location and time as the franchise roster practices. The franchise head coach may combine practices at their leisure.

    • Teach the fundamentals: philosophy, skills, and techniques, as needed.

    • Create a roster for the MLQ Next Gen Showcase at MLQ Championship and other MLQ Next Gen events.

    • Preside over and/or delegate in-game matters at the MLQ Next Gen Showcase, including but not limited to talking to referees, running subs, and calling timeouts.

Digital Media

  • The MLQ Digital Project Manager will report directly to the MLQ Commissioners with a dotted line to the MLQ Digital Media Director and be responsible for tracking tasks and projects in the MLQ Digital Media Department. If you are a hyper-organized, deadline-driven individual with a knack for finding solutions and learning things quickly, this is the volunteer role for you!

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Curate and update the MLQ Digital Media Jira board.

    • Lead the cross-functional delivery of a range of deliverables.

    • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, milestones, deliverables, detailed tasks and resource requirements from concept creation through implementation.

    • Lead sprint planning activities to facilitate the entire project lifecycle from beginning to end.

    • Create roadmaps and objectives.

    • Create clear visibility into status and progress within the team and for stakeholders.

    • Identify and manage cross-team dependencies and risks; define and drive mitigation plans.

    • Run retrospectives to remediate operational and process gaps.

    • Facilitate productive communication between teams and among teammates.

  • MLQ is seeking vloggers, marketing enthusiasts, compelling storytellers, and engaging on-camera personalities to host short video series for the MLQ Patreon, YouTube, and TikTok.

    You will work with a dedicated video editor but be responsible for crafting compelling episodes, pitching topics/stories, and engaging with our audience via social media. You may also interview other personalities on camera.

  • MLQ is seeking video editors dedicated to athlete vlogs. Each editor will be assigned one vlog they will be responsible for during the active MLQ season.

    REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS

    • Expected around 5-7 hours of editing over the course of every 2-3 weeks depending on the frequency of content from vlogger and release dates. Episodes will be 10 minutes or less

    • Upload footage at the end of the week to a shared drive

    • Follow and execute according to a schedule

    • Always be thinking about the narrative as you collect footage

    • Edit in a 1080x720 format

    • Use royalty free/copyright free material

    • Utilize adobe stock graphics/animations, or other free graphics for animations

We are looking for talented volunteers or ones eager to learn from existing talent to join our digital media team as seasonal videographers, photographers and/or commentators.   • Last season MLQ introduced Cuts with Cupid, a vlog that followed the season of the New York Titans’ Kellan Cupid. Cupid recorded and submitted all footage and an MLQ video editor created the vlogs released to the public.

    This season, MLQ is going to be introducing two more player vlogs and each will require a dedicated editor.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Edit footage and create graphics specific to the vlog assigned to you.

  • MLQ Video Editors (3) report directly to MLQ’s Video Manager and Digital Media Director. The main responsibilities of the role will be to work closely with in-house production to complete video and multimedia projects for MLQ. MLQ Video Editors will work cross-functionally with other MLQ departments to support the creation of both public-facing and internal content.

  • Major League Quadball is seeking on-air talent for an upcoming video project to promote the sport and the league.

    Interested parties should film themselves answering the following questions and email the individual, unedited videos to info@mlquadball.com. Each video may be filmed on a cell phone and should be no longer than one minute start to finish.

Creative and Marketing

  • This position reports directly to MLQ’s Marketing Director. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Familiarity with LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitch and/or other platforms a plus. You will be the manager of a large team, and will need to be a confident, thoughtful, and professional leader. The Social Media Manager will primarily be responsible for growing MLQ's social media presence, and increasing attendance and participation at MLQ events and programs, especially through supporting, organizing and facilitating success of the social media team. You will work closely with other marketing managers, the creative team and MLQ Commissioners to develop brand strategy, curate content, and keep MLQ functioning on social media in an optimal manner.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create, manage, and optimize social media strategy across all the MLQ brands and programs. Channels include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.

    • Coordinate social media personnel in developing, strategizing, and finalizing a comprehensive social media strategy that supports MLQ values, encourages audience engagement, and aligns with brand goals for the year.

    • Build recognition, excitement, and attendance for the League.

    • Work with social media personnel to develop and manage an overarching social media plan and calendar.

  • The MLQ Creative Designer reports directly to MLQ’s Senior Creative Designer.   • The MLQ Financial Director will report to MLQ Commissioners Ethan Sturm and Amanda Dallas. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the MLQ Finance Department and contributing to the overall success of the league by effectively managing the financial facets of the organization’s financial tasks. The ideal candidate will be someone who can maintain a broad vision and understands or has the ability to learn to understand how the organization operates financially.

  • The MLQ Special Events Manager is to connect MLQ and its franchises to the community. The MLQ Special Events Manager will be responsible for seeking out and coordinating outreach opportunities for the league. Some examples of these events would be youth quadball demos, guest appearances, convention booths, professional sports demos, camp workshops, etc.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Seek out and coordinate outreach opportunities for the league and the franchises.

    The MLQ Tournament Manager will be responsible for coordinating tournaments such as the Benepe Cup, Take Back the Pitch, and/or the Next Gen Showcase from the initial planning stages until the completion, including any required post-event wrap up and debriefs. The tournament manager will be responsible for making initial, intermediate, and final calls with the host city in order to plan the headlining event.

  • We are currently hiring three for those role. Applicants should be located in one of the following MLQ divisions: North, South, and East.

    The position of the MLQ Series Manager is designed to provide logistical support in line with the operational requirements of each MLQ regular-season series. The MLQ Divisional Series Manager will be directly responsible for the initial coordination of each MLQ regular-season series and working with the MLQ Events Department and MLQ Franchise Managers to ensure each series is a success. The MLQ Series Manager will report directly to the MLQ Events Director.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Take a leading role in the coordination of a given division’s MLQ regular-season series. Franchise managers will be the on-the-ground facilitators but you will provide support start to finish.

    • Liaise with the MLQ Franchise Managers to ensure the following:

    • All series are coordinated to the standards expected by MLQ.

    • All equipment belonging to MLQ is returned at the end of each season to appropriate parties.

    • All scorecards are scanned and filed within 48 hours of a series.

    • All footage is submitted to MLQ digital media within 48 hours of a series.

    • Create and maintain the regular-season series assignments based on communication with the MLQ Officials Manager and MLQ Franchise Managers.

    • Work alongside the MLQ Events Director and MLQ Gameplay Director in the continued development of the policies and procedures specific to series hosting, thus maintaining and enhancing the professional nature of events.

    • Set deadlines and follow up with the MLQ Gameplay Department regarding officials for each series. It is ultimately the responsibility of the MLQ Series Manager to ensure all parties are assigned properly and aware of their assignments for a given division.

People Operations

  • As the MLQ People Operations Director, you will build out and lead the MLQ People Operations team to develop and execute our people strategy, evolve our company culture, and play a critical role in shaping the broader strategy of the organization. You will lead the charge on our efforts to create an inclusive and innovative work culture, with the overarching goal of creating both short and long-term business strategies that attract, retain and grow the best talent for MLQ. You will oversee everything relating to our staff, and athlete happiness and engagement at MLQ, and develop guidelines and policies that reflect and support MLQ’s core values and beliefs. This role requires an enormous amount of discretion as well as strong communication and people relations skills. The MLQ People Operations Director will report to MLQ Commissioners Amanda Dallas and Ethan Sturm.

  • The MLQ Athlete Benefits Coordinator will lead the development, implementation and evolution of athlete benefits. They will research and implement programs and perks aimed at enhancing athlete engagement and drive athlete recognition via the creation of content. The MLQ Athlete Benefits Coordinator will report directly to the MLQ People Operations Director.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop, evolve, and administer athlete recognition efforts including interviews, written features, highlights, etc. for MLQ social media.

    • Create and evaluate metrics and performance benchmarks for recognition programs including evaluation against competitor organizations.

    • Oversee the distribution of specialty items as part of celebrations and recognition.

    • Manage a budget.

    • Assist in the planning of event add-ons to enhance on-site athlete experience (e.g. dunk contests, shootouts, giveaways, etc.).

    • Interface with athletes at events and inquire about offerings they would love to see.

  • The MLQ Policies and Benefits Manager will be the gatekeeper to all MLQ policies. This role will also be responsible for brainstorming and implementing benefits such as discounts, outings, etc. along with the MLQ Athlete Benefits Coordinator. The MLQ Policies and Benefits Manager will report directly to the MLQ People Operations Director. We expect this role to see a higher rate of growth and development than others might as MLQ morphs into a larger brand over the coming years.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain the internal directory and library of all MLQ policies, including but not limited to gameplay, marketing, human resources, etc.

    • Audit the MLQ policy library each off season and work with the necessary parties to update and add policies, as needed.

    • Develop internal and external policies, as needed.

    • Generate PDFs of all external MLQ policies and post to the company’s website prior to each season.

    • Field questions related to MLQ policies, as needed.

    • Oversee and work with the MLQ Athlete Benefits Coordinator to research and recommend new and/or improved MLQ benefits. Administer and track all benefits.

    • Deploy communications to increase internal awareness and their participation in and understanding of benefits.

    • Establish and build working relationships with MLQ partners.

    • Respond to complex policy and benefit inquiries, as needed.

    • Manage MLQ’s league insurance policy.

    • Request COIs from the league’s insurance company, as needed.

  • The MLQ Learning and Development Manager will oversee MLQ’s newest addition: the Learning and Development Team. This team will create, facilitate, and scale learning experiences to expand the reach of quadball. The MLQ Educational Manager will create, implement, and maintain this new team.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop unique concepts for programs, activities and materials with the intent to expand the reach of quadball and MLQ.

    • Work with various MLQ departments to form teams to create, implement and maintain the aforementioned programs and events.

    • Create and maintain a process for developing and introducing new programs and events to MLQ.

    • Work with the MLQ Marketing Department to create aids such as one pagers, manuals, visuals, reference cards, presentations, etc. to supplement the aforementioned programs and to be used by franchises to inform others about quadball.

    • Solicit feedback from participants in programs and implement revisions, as needed.

    • Experience in facilitation group learning, teaching, or similar skillset.
