MLQ Championship Scores and Standings

2023

The 2023 MLQ Championship featured a play-in bracket and a championship bracket—an explanation of how teams were seeded can be found here. The North Division Championship determined the Chicago Prowl was the first seed in the North and they selected the San Antonio Soldados as their opponent on MLQ Replay.

On Saturday morning of the MLQ Championship, the six 3 and 4 seeds played in a qualification bracket for one of two play-in spots in the quarterfinals. One and two seeds from each division received an automatic bye to the quarterfinals, and were placed in specific spots based on our Divisional Coefficient, which ranks our divisions based on past performance. On Saturday afternoon, the four quarterfinals were played in a best-of-three series.

The four teams that won their quarterfinal matchups advanced to the semifinals on Sunday, where they played another team in a best-of-three series. The winners of the two semifinals advanced to the best-of-three final on Sunday.

2019

Play-in Round
During the morning of day one of the MLQ Championship, the bottom nine teams (the 2-4 seeds from each division) competed in a double elimination bracket for the remaining five spots to the quarterfinals. Any team that won two games qualified for one of those spots, and any team that lost two games was eliminated. The loser of Game F was assigned the 6th seed.

The winner of Game F was assigned the 4th seed, the winner of Game G the 5th seed, the winner of Game J the 7th seed and the winner of Game K the 8th seed.

Quarterfinals (4)
The quarterfinals were four separate best-of-three game series. Teams that won the first two games did not play a third. The seeding for the quarterfinals pitted Seed 1 against Seed 8, Seed 2 against Seed 7, Seed 3 against Seed 6, and Seed 4 against Seed 5.

Semifinals (2)
The semifinals were two separate best-of-three game series during the morning of Sunday, August 11. The winner of the Seed 1/Seed 8 game played the winner of the Seed 4/Seed 5 game in one semifinal, and the winner of the Seed 2/Seed 7 game played the winner of the Seed 4/Seed 6 game in the other. Teams that won the first two games did not play a third.

Final (1)
The final was a best-of-three game series between the defending champions the Austin Outlaws and the Boston Riders. The Riders swept the Outlaws and took home the Benepe Cup for the third time in the franchise's history.

2018

In preliminary brackets, double-elimination style, the winner of each bracket moved on to the Final Four and competed on day two of the 2018 Benepe Cup. The best two-out-of-three Final Four bracket led to the Austin Outlaws becoming repeat Benepe Cup Champions over the Boston Riders in Madison, Wis.

2017

In preliminary brackets, double-elimination style, the winner of each bracket moved on to the Final Four and competed on day two of the 2017 Benepe Cup at Hometown Heroes Park in League City, Texas. The best two-out-of-three Final Four bracket led to the Austin Outlaws dethroning two-time Benepe Cup Champions the Boston Forge in Hometown Heroes Park in League City, Texas.

2016

The 2016 MLQ Championship format was divided into two phases. In the first phase, teams were divided into four double elimination brackets, each with four teams. The winner of each bracket advanced to the second phase, which consisted of two semifinal matches and one final match, all three of which followed a best two-of-three format.

2015

The 2015 MLQ Championship feature all eight teams vying for a spot in the Benepe Cup finals. The finals featured a best of three series between East Division rivals the Boston Forge and the New York Titans.
