Austin, Ottawa, and Toronto End MLQ Seasons
The Austin Outlaws, Ottawa Black Bears, and Toronto Raiders have forfeited the remainder of their series for the 2025 MLQ season. These teams will not be invited to the 2025 MLQ Championship.
The Outlaws will no longer be able to field a valid roster this season. The Raiders are also unable to meet MLQ’s roster requirements for their upcoming SuperSeries. The Black Bears have opted out of travel to the U.S. due to concerns surrounding the current administration and safety.
Per league rules, the Houston Legends and San Antonio Soldados will each be awarded three 65-0 wins over the Austin Outlaws. The Chicago Prowl and Minneapolis Monarchs will each be awarded three 65-0 wins over the Toronto Raiders. The Boston Forge will be awarded three 65-0 wins over the Ottawa Black Bears.
“We take this situation very seriously. This many scheduled matches going unplayed is unfair to our players who participate in the league, our fans who follow along every summer, and our partner organizations that help us make MLQ what it is,” said MLQ Commissioners Ethan Sturm and Amanda Dallas in their Letter from the Commissioners. “Going forward into 2026, we will be reevaluating all of our franchises for current and long-term sustainability. We will be reaching out to USQ to work together to further recruitment and growth initiatives for the sport. And we will be adjusting our forfeit policy to make it less likely that a season like this one happens again.”
The upcoming Outlaws series will be replaced by two exhibition series between the Houston Legends and San Antonio Soldados. The first will take place this Saturday, July 26 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. The second will be hosted by the Soldados on August 9 at the STAR Complex. Both series will be streamed and tickets are on sale now.
