South Bend, Ind. (January 26, 2023) —  Major League Quadball (MLQ) has announced that the 2023 MLQ North Division Championship will be hosted in Lakeville, Ind. at Newton Park on Aug. 12-13 in partnership with Visit South Bend Mishawaka.

“Visit South Bend Mishawaka is thrilled to partner again with Major League Quadball to host the North Division Championship in South Bend, Ind. It was a terrific event last year, but we are excited for what is in store for 2023. We look forward to welcoming all the teams back to our community and strengthening our relationship with MLQ to make this event better each year,” said Nick Kleva, Sports Tourism Manager at Visit South Bend Mishawaka.

The divisional championship will feature all six North Division teams: the Cleveland Riff, the Detroit Innovators, the Minneapolis Monarchs, the Rochester Whiteout, the Toronto Raiders and the newest addition to the league, the Chicago Prowl. Tickets are now available.

Originally adapted from the Harry Potter series, quadball is a mixed-gender, full-contact sport invented in 2005 by students at Middlebury College in Vermont. It is now played by 600 teams in 40 countries. The rules incorporate a mix of elements from basketball, rugby and dodgeball.

Founded in 2015, MLQ is the equivalent of the NFL or the MLB for quadball. The league is home to 16 franchises across North America that compete in three geographic divisions during the regular season for qualification spots at the MLQ Championship. The regular season runs from June to August.

The winner of the event will walk away with the divisional crown. The top four teams in the North, after the completion of the regular season, will receive bids to attend the 2023 MLQ Championship in Des Moines, Iowa from Aug. 26-28.

MLQ Championship is the league’s marquee event and features three competitions in one: the Benepe Cup, the Next Gen Showcase and Take Back the Pitch. All games will be played simultaneously on two fields over a two-day tournament and will be livestreamed to fans around the world. You can buy presale tickets now at MLQChampionship.com
