Toronto Forfeits Minneapolis Series, Minneapolis to Play Chicago Practice Squad in Exhibition Match

The scheduled June 6 series between the Toronto Raiders and Minneapolis Monarchs has been canceled due to Toronto forfeiting the series. It will be replaced with an exhibition match between Minneapolis and our Chicago practice squad.

The series will officially be recorded as a forfeit win for Minneapolis. Due to repeated forfeits across multiple seasons, the league has also issued Toronto a $200 fine in accordance with league operations and competitive standards policies. The full $200 will be awarded to Minneapolis to compensate for the missed ticket sales portion the team may have otherwise received.

Rather than leaving the weekend without gameplay, Minneapolis will now face Chicago in an exhibition match on Saturday, June 6 at 2:30 PM CT in Rochester, Minn.—the originally scheduled time and location for the MPLS vs. TOR series.

The Chicago side will feature predominantly Chicago Meowstars (Chicago’s practice squad) players alongside additional younger Chicago franchise athletes, creating an opportunity for expanded player development and regional competition.

We appreciate Minneapolis and Chicago working collaboratively to ensure the Rochester event still delivers meaningful gameplay for athletes and spectators.
