10 Reasons to Experience MLQ Worlds Weekend

MLQ is hosting the 2023 MLQ Worlds Weekend on July 21-23 in New York City, following the 2023 IQA World Cup. Check out our list of the top 10 reasons to attend this exciting event, then snag your ticket here!

1. There’s a party!

Most important things first — you’ll kick off the weekend in style with the Worlds Weekend Welcome Party. Put on your New York City best and come hang out at Beer Authority in Midtown. It’s sure to be a blast!

2. Level up your skills.

It’s time to grind the event, er, Worlds Weekend. Saturday’s skills workshop offers the perfect opportunity to improve your quadball techniques. Whether you want to work on keeping, chasing, seeking, or beating, there’ll be a workshop for you.

3. Win a cool prize.

After the skills workshop, we’ll run a series of skills competitions for you to show off your stuff. Compete in games like Knockout, King of the Hill, and World Cup for glory (and prizes)!

4. Enjoy a classic American sports rivalry.

New York versus Boston. The Yankees versus the Red Sox. The Giants versus the Patriots. The Titans versus the Forge. Need we say any more? Worlds Weekend includes one of the most exciting matchups of the MLQ regular season when the New York Titans host the Boston Forge on Randall’s Island. New York took the historic rivalry series for the first time in 2021, but the Forge bounced back in 2022. You don’t want to miss this one…

 5. Introduce a little fantasy into your life.

Forget the NBA Draft, the Worlds Weekend Fantasy Tournament Draft is the most anticipated draft event of the year. On Sunday, MLQ will run a fantasy tournament on Randall’s Island with pre-selected teams drafted by pairs of GMs. This is your reminder to sign up soon before the draft takes place in June! Don’t miss your opportunity to play on a truly international fantasy squad — each GM pair is required to include an athlete from the U.S. and one from another country.

 6. Make new friends…

At Worlds Weekend, you’ll meet people from across the globe. And nothing forges stronger bonds than playing together on a fantasy team. Make some new connections, play a little quadball, have a lot of fun. What more can we say?

 7. …And reconnect with old ones

It’s no secret that quadball brings people together. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, invite your former teammates to participate, and compete against old rivals.

 8. Get smarter.

And if you thought this weekend was just about partying and playing quadball, you were dead wrong. You’ll get your education on with Saturday’s seminars on topics like breaking a zone, offensive beating, and running successful quadball events. Work smarter not harder.

 9. Enjoy the greatest city in the world.

We might be a little biased, but New York is the place to be this summer. When you’re not at Worlds Weekend, grab a bagel and take a stroll through Central Park, visit the MoMA, or eat at one of the city’s amazing restaurants. Plus, you’ll get amazing views of the city skyline while you play on Randall’s Island. Perfect for your July Instagram dump.

 10. It’s the premier MLQ event of the summer.

MLQ Championship, who? (Just kidding, don’t forget to get your champ tickets here.) But seriously, this event has everything — a skills workshop, a fantasy tournament, and a truly exciting quadball series, all in the amazing city of New York. Get your tickets asap! Signups close June 5!
